What to Expect

This is a road trip we’ve done ourselves on solo travel adventures and we want to share this experience with you! A 7 night trip taking in three epic surf destinations along the Moroccan coast. We’ll be settling into our trip with 3 nights in Mirleft, a traditional Berber town further South in Morocco will lots of breaks on its doorstep! This is the chance to get into our surfing groove and surf some slightly quieter spots.

On our departure day from Mirleft we’ll be heading north stopping off for the day in the popular surf town of Tagazhout for lunch, a spot of shopping and a visit to a local Hamam!

We can’t road trip the Moroccan coast without a stop in Imsouane. We first surfed here in 2006 and it’s one for your bucket list. Arguably the most consistent wave in the country, it’s like a tap that never turns off! It’s also the longest wave in Morocco, a mellow 800m right hand point break that just peels and peels. We’ll have two nights in Imsouane to soak up the vibes of this Berber fishing village turned surf town.

The last 2 nights will be resting in the peaceful fishing village of Tafedna, with a world class point on its day and a fun beach break, this less known spot is perfect for longboarders and improvers alike.

Throughout the week when we are not surfing expect the opportunity to explore local souks, relax at the hammam, soak up the best sunset spots, and eat the most delicious food. We’ve included some of our meals with our hosts and kept others free so that we can share some of our favourite eateries with you and of course find some new local gems together.

TRANSPORT & ARRIVALS/DEPARTURES

From your arrival to departure, all of your transportation throughout the trip is included and planned for you. You just need to book a flight into Agadir Airport (AGA), a departing flight from Essaouira Airport (ESU), reserve your spot on the trip and then we will take care of the rest.

Some travel time stats:
– Arrival Transfers from Agadir Airport to Mirleft is 2 hrs
– The total drive time from Mirleft to Tafedna broken up over 7 days is just under 5 hrs.
– Departure transfer from Tafedna to Essaouira Airport is 1 hr

NB: Arrival and Departure transfers from other airports eg. Essaouira arrival, Marrakech arrival or departure, Agadir Departure, can be arranged for an additional charge.

SURFING

Expect our usual high level of coaching to help you progress towards your surfing goals during the trip. With daily coaching sessions, theory sessions and video analysis, this is a wave and progression packed trip.

Through the week you will experience a smorgasboard of Moroccan surf breaks which is not only going to be a wonderful adventure, its going to be fantastic for your surf experience. With multiple coaches and vehicles we will be able to cater to all the ability levels within the group and ensure everyone is surfing the right waves for their progression.

We’ve chosen November as the shoulder of the peak season to take advantage of the incoming swells and warm weather. Our experience over the years has shown us that this is one of the most desirable times for surf travel in Morocco.

*Whilst in Morocco we will be working with local surf coaches and guides in order to score the best waves possible and use their local knowledge to navigate breaks safely. We like to make our guests aware that these coaches are usually male and whilst your Surf Sistas coach with be the one predominantly coaching you, they will be there to help you get waves and offer support.

THE WAVES

Mirleft is an up and coming town with a variety of waves which are most beach breaks with the occasional point break! As we have options we can move around to get the best waves for your level at different beaches.

Imsouane is the spot where you’re likely to catch the longest wave of your life! However its consistency and set up makes it quite a popular and busy break! We’ll be aiming to surf here early doors to beat the crowds and we really do think if you’re coming to Morocco this is a must visit destination just to experience the magic of this bay! There’s another wave in walking distance which we can also hit up if the conditions allow.

Tafedna is the quiestest surf spot where we will wind down our trip surfing a fantastic point break. Contained within one long stretching bay there’s the main point which reels off the headland, some great peaks along the beach and the south corner providing more shelter.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Here’s an example of what we may cover with you during your Surf Sistas trip. We’ll be helping you to achieve your personal surfing goals during the week so will tailor our coaching accordingly. Including the use of video analysis through the week.

• Surf safety
• Confidence building and managing fear
• Pop-up techniques and progression
• Trimming and turning technique
• How to catch and ride green waves
• Paddling technique and methods to paddle out back
• Positioning in the water to catch green waves
• Bottom turns, cutbacks, closeout turn
• Longboard technique: Cross Stepping, different take-offs to set up your wave, hanging 5 and nose-riding

Theory Sessions might include:

• Forecasting
• Etiquette
• Surfboard science
• Wave formation and types of waves

ACCOMMODATION

We have hand selected some beautiful, safe and friendly accommodations with all the amenities we need for a super comfortable stay.

Accommodation is in twin rooms, book with a friend or we will match you with a fellow Surf Sista. All accommodations are overlooking or a short walk to the ocean with multiple communal spaces to gather with the group or find a nook to soak up the sun or curl up with a book.

Our hosts in each location will be providing hearty and delicious breakfasts and some of our lunches and evening meals.

We have kept some lunches and evenings free on the itinerary so that we can check out some of the awesome local cafes and restaurants. Take you to some of our favourite spots and maybe find some new gems together!

Most diets can be catered for, healthy fresh produce is available in all locations but with supermarkets sometimes hrs away some products such as nut milks will be a challenge for some parts of the trip without prior warning. We can prep for this so please do drop us a line with any dietary queries when you book.

How to Get Here

We recommend to book an arrival flight into Agadir Airport (AGA) and a departure flight from Essaouira Airport (ESU). Direct flights are available to/from both airports from UK and European airports. These airport transfers are included in the trip so all you need to do is book your flights and we will collect you at the airport and drop you for your homeward bound flight.

If you are arriving to an airport that is not Agadir or departing from a different airport than Essaouira his is not a problem. We can organise different transfers but there will be an additional charge.

Is this Surf Trip For Me?

Morocco offers great waves for progression for all levels of surfers from beginners to more experienced surfers who ride green waves. Because this trip is mobile and we will be surfing many different waves we think this is best for improver surfers and surfers riding green waves. If you are a beginner we would encourage you to choose one of our retreats that is based in one location.

We have a maximum of 6 spaces on the retreat with multiple coaches ensuring that we can tailor our coaching to your needs and progression.
