IMPROVER SURF WEEKENDS IN WALES
If you have already learnt to surf, are confidently standing up in the white water but find yourself in a bit of a rut and want to progress, or can catch green waves but want to work on your technique then our intermediate courses in Wales are for you. They are a great opportunity to take your surfing to the next level in a relaxed fun and supportive environment with other like-minded girls.
Our Surf Sistas instructors, including ex UK & Welsh champ Gwen Spurlock, are all experienced ISA qualified coaches. They have compacted our 5 day White to Green course into an intensive weekend course specially for you, including plenty of water time and photo/video analysis. We will adapt the weekend to the group to make sure we are working towards your personal surfing goals in the most effective way.
“Fantastic weekend with
@surfsistas and@GwenSpurlock thanks for all your effort organising and coaching missing the surfing already”
Shelley, London
2018 DATES: 2/3 June | 4/5 August
LOCATION: Llangennith, Wales
PRICE: £139 per person
INCLUDES:
- 1.5 days of in water improver surf coaching with our Surf Sistas coaches including board and wetsuit rental if needed.
- Sunday afternoon photo/video analysis, theory session and Q&A with your coaches
- A Surf Sistas goody bag to take home!
Each day your coaching will be with ISA qualified Surf Sistas instructors in our girls only Surf Sistas Improver sessions – your tuition includes the rental of a surfboard and wetsuit if needed. Tuition will be tailored to your ability but could include refining pop-up technique, paddle technique, turtle rolling and/or duck diving, turning, trimming and stance, understanding conditions and wave selection, and building confidence.
Saturday morning we meet at 9.30am aiming to be in the water by 10am. We run two in-water tuition sessions with a break for lunch inbetween. Bring your own packed lunch or check out Eddy’s cafe at the beach.
On Saturday evening we usually all head to the village pub for some well deserved post-surf dinner.
Sunday morning we are back in the water for more coaching, then after lunch we will run through the photo/video footage and you will have the opportunity for some Q&A with the coaches. We will also head to the local surf shop PJs for a chat about surf equipment, so if you have some questions about surfboards, maybe you are looking to buy your first board or change up the board you are riding. This is your chance to get the lowdown from some local surf legends .. no such thing as a silly question here!
We expect to be finished by 2.30-3pm so plenty of time for anyone that needs to make train or bus connections in Swansea.
With our group size limited to 10 per course you won’t get lost in the crowd, but be sure to reserve your spot early, don’t miss out!
If you are coming with a friend who hasn’t surfed before she can learn to surf with the beginner surf weekend which runs alongside our improver weekend.
ACCOMMODATION:
There are some great accommodation options in Llangennith and the surrounding area from a campsite right by the beach to eclectic B&Bs & bunkhouses. Llangennith is a very small village though and popular in the summer so we recommend booking as early as you can.
Hillend Campsite – Right behind the dunes at the beach, you couldn’t ask for a better location! Good shower & camping facilities, a camp shop for basics and the Eddy’s cafe too!

Blas Gŵyr is a luxury Boutique B&B right in the heart of the village. Delicious breakfasts and a lovely place to lay your head after a hard days surf.

The Kings Head – Want to be close to the pub? Probably best to stay at the pub then! The Kings Head has some lovely modern rooms tucked away behind the car park and out of earshot of the pub. Another excellent breakfast.
