SURFING COACHING
This trip includes two daily surf coaching sessions with our Surf Sistas instructors. This trip is fantastic for beginner, improver/intermediate and advanced surfers.
Beginner surfers will learn the basics of surfing, how to position yourself on the board, catch waves and pop up, and importantly how to stay safe in the water. By the end of the trip we will be concentrating on your paddling, how to catch green waves, and turning.
Intermediate/improver surfers will benefit from our ‘White to Green’ coaching, helping you to really take your surfing to the next level where you are gaining confidence in paddling out the back, consistently catching and riding green waves, turning and trimming along the wave, turtle rolling or duck diving. We will use photo or video analysis where appropriate to help you to identify the key areas you need to work on. This might be your first experience of surfing a reef break and our instructors are there to guide you through this experience every step of the way.
Advanced surfers will benefit from an introduction to different breaks on the Bali mainland and on Nusa Lembongan, our local knowledge of conditions and coaching using video analysis to work on specific aspects of your surfing.
We tailor our instruction to your ability level, splitting the group where necessary to make sure everyone surfs the best waves we can find each day to help you progress. We are slaves to the tides in Bali so finding the right waves also means surfing at the right time each day, be ready for early morning surfs & sunset surfs when the tides dictate .. which is as amazing as it sounds!
Bring your own surfboard or use one of ours for the trip. If you know what kind of board you want to ride then let us know in advance and we will make sure we have the right board for you when you arrive. We will choose the right board for you if you are a beginner.
SURFING BALI
Bali is known as the island of the gods for good reason. Each coast is blessed with perfect reef and beach set-ups. We keep our daily itinerary flexible to enable us to make the most of the tides and varying swell and wind forecasts. It is likely we will surf most in the morning and before sunset when the wind is lightest and the sun is least strong.
For the first 5 nights of the trip we are based in Canggu on Bali. From here we can access many different breaks in Southern Bali and make sure that you are surfing the right breaks for your ability and the conditions every day. This also means that you will have the opportunity to see and explore different parts of this beautiful island.
SURFING NUSA LEMBONGAN
The island of Nusa Lembongan is 20km off the East coast of Bali, just 30 minutes boat ride away. This small island with a population of less than 4000 people boasts stunning uncrowded waves and crystal clear waters, perfect for snorkeling, SUPing, fishing and of course incredible for surfing. It’s a dream location.
For our 4 days on Nusa Lembongan we will be accessing the breaks right in front of our accommodation by boat. When we are not surfing there is plenty of time to lap up the laid back tropical island life with our daily Surf Sistas Yoga sessions, snorkel trips, spa treatments, exploring the island by scooter or taxi truck, or just relaxing by one of our two pools overlooking the surf.
YOGA
Our daily Yoga sessions are organised around our surf schedule. We will practice asanas that will enhance your surfing, improve your balance and flexibility and stretch out tight muscles. The classes will be suitable for all levels.
Mats and props are provided you just need to wear comfortable clothing.
ACCOMMODATION
Our accommodation for the first 5 nights is in Canggu, a 35 minute drive north from the airport on the west coast of Bali. Our boutique hotel with a pool is just 250 metres from the beach. Rooms are ensuite twin shares with a few private rooms available for a single supplement.
Here we are in walking distance of the lively beachside bars and restaurants of Echobeach and popular Canguu hangouts like Deus and the Betelnut cafe. We are also just a short ride away from the famous sunset cocktail bars Ku de Ta & Potato Head and Surf Sistas fave restaurant Sea Circus. We are close to the upmarket district of Seminyak and the tourist hub of Kuta for all your shopping needs.
On day 6 we will take to the sea and make the 30 minute transfer by boat to Nusa Lembongan where our accommodation for 3 nights is a beautiful beachside hotel with two pools overlooking the surf. The perfect place to soak up tranquil island life.
EATING AND DRINKING
Breakfast is included at our accommodation every day. Lunches are not included but each surf spot has its own Warung (restaurant), where we can sit down to a delicious feast for a few dollars per day.
Each evening we will choose local restaurants that we love for the group to eat together or you have the option to go out and explore yourselves.
There are so many amazing places to eat on Bali & Lembongan and the Surf Sistas crew have selflessly sampled many of them so that we can pass on our top tips to you!
SURFBOARD RENTAL & WHAT TO WEAR
Boards are available for hire if you don’t bring your own. If you are a beginner or not sure what you need then our instructors are on hand to select the right board for you.
The water is tropical so you need board shorts, swimsuits/bikinis, rash vests (lycras) to protect from the sun and rub from your board, maybe surf leggings if you are fair skinned (sunburn will really spoil your trip!). We also recommend that you wear reef shoes when you are surfing.

USEFUL INFORMATION
Extend your stay
We are happy to help with details of other accommodation if you are staying extra days either side of the Surfari, just ask us when you book. Your return boat from Lembongan to Bali can be changed at no extra charge if you decide to stay longer on the island.
Flights
The trip includes arrival and departure meetings to/from Denpasar airport. You will need to book your own flights however we can advise you on flights that others are taking, the latest deals that we have discovered recommend booking agents.
Please check your baggage, size, number and weight allowance with your airline. Remember to check your airline’s procedure for carrying surfboards and book yours in advance if you are bringing one.
Currency
The currency is Indonesian Rupiah. We recommend taking a debit or credit card and using cash points. Our accommodations have safety boxes for passports and cash. You will not need much cash as the trip covers most eventualities, just money for souvenirs, lunches, evening meals and drinks.
You can exchange sterling cash or traveller’s cheques with Balinese money-changers. We recommend taking at least 2 bank cards in case one becomes lost or damaged.
Documents
It is essential that your passport has over 6 months left until it expires (from the date you return to the UK), preferably much longer, or you will be denied entry to Indonesia. Most passport holders can now enter Bali on a free 30 day visa. If you wish to extend your stay beyond 30 days you should buy a $35 visa on arrival as this is extendable during your stay.
If you plan to hire a car or motorcycle you will need an international driving license, which can be obtained from the AA.
It is a good idea to carry photocopies of your important documents (packed separately) and note that it is also easier to carry photocopies of relevant pages from heavy guidebooks etc. We also suggest that you scan/photograph copies of your important documents and email them to yourself.
