White to Green | Surf Progression Weekends 2027

by Jeffa

Our White to Green Progression Weekends are designed for women who want to move beyond the white water, build confidence in the line-up and start catching more green waves.

Over two days in Newquay, Cornwall, you’ll work closely with our experienced Surf Sistas coaches, developing your technique, ocean knowledge and confidence through focused, personalised coaching.

With small groups, a maximum 1:4 coaching ratio, video analysis and plenty of time in the water, we’ll help you identify what’s holding you back and give you the tools to keep progressing.

Whether you’re starting to venture out back, working on your wave selection and take-offs, or bringing your wave pool skills into the ocean, we’ll meet you where you are and help you take the next step.

What You’ll Learn

Progression looks different for everyone. You might be working towards your first green wave, finding your feet out back, or looking to catch waves more consistently and start developing your turns.

Our coaches will work with you on the skills that matter most to your surfing, adapting sessions to your experience, goals and the conditions on the day.

In the water, we’ll focus on everything from paddle technique, positioning and wave selection to angled take-offs, trimming, generating speed and introducing turns.

On land, we’ll build your understanding of surf forecasting, ocean conditions, board choice, line-up etiquette and how to make better decisions in the water.

The aim? To leave you surfing with more confidence, a better understanding of the ocean and a clear idea of what to work on next.

Areas we commonly cover include:

In-Water Coaching

  • Catching and riding green waves
  • Positioning and wave selection
  • Paddle technique and efficiency
  • Angled take-offs
  • Methods for getting out back
  • Trimming and generating speed
  • Introduction to turning and carving
  • Surf etiquette and line-up confidence
  • Building consistency and confidence in ocean conditions

Theory & Surf Knowledge

  • Reading waves and understanding positioning
  • Surf forecasting and swell reports
  • Ocean awareness and surf safety
  • Surfboard selection and progression
  • Decision-making in changing conditions

See Your Surfing From a Different Perspective

Sometimes the smallest adjustments make the biggest difference.

Throughout the weekend, we’ll film your waves and bring everyone together for a dedicated video analysis session. You’ll see what’s working, understand where you can improve and get individual feedback from your coaches.

It’s one of the most useful tools for progressing your surfing, and you’ll leave with practical things to work on next time you’re in the water.

Is This Weekend Right For Me?

This progression weekend is ideal if:

  • You’re consistently standing up in white water waves
  • You’re beginning to catch green waves or want to start
  • You surf in a wave pool and want to transition into the sea
  • You want to improve your paddle skills and positioning
  • You’d like more confidence in ocean conditions and ‘out back’
  • You’re looking for personalised coaching and feedback
  • You want meaningful progression without committing to a full week away

If you’re a complete beginner, we recommend starting with one of our Surf & Yoga Weekends or 4 Day Beginner Weeks before joining this weekend.

Welcome to Newquay

We’re based in Newquay, our favourite spot in Cornwall. Getting in the water here, you’ll see a strong crew of women enjoying the line-up. Our main locations for coaching are Fistral Beach and Towan Beach, and we’ll be selecting the most progression-friendly conditions each day. If the forecast suggests better waves elsewhere, we’ll hit the road for a mini surf adventure.

Newquay is not only great for surf, its a vibrant coastal community with heaps of independent cafes, food trucks and restaurants, Yoga and Pilates studios for drop in classes, multiple outdoor sauna/spas and endless stunning coastpath walks and swim spots. We love our town and we can’t wait to share it with you, if you need any advice just let us know!

The Right Waves Make All the Difference

Progressing your surfing isn’t just about technique. It’s also about finding the right waves to practise in.

With over 20 years of coaching experience in Cornwall, we know how much difference the right conditions can make. That’s why we keep our surf schedule flexible, choosing the best times and locations for the group rather than sticking to a rigid timetable.

We’re licensed to coach at Towan Beach, one of Newquay’s most sheltered surf spots, and also coach at Fistral and other local beaches. This gives us the freedom to find waves that suit your ability and help you get the most from every session.

Sometimes that means an early start to catch the best conditions, sometimes a later session as the tide changes. We’ll work around the ocean, not the clock.

Better waves, more opportunities to practise and coaching that’s tailored to you
